European Congress on Obesity
Dr Panagiota Mitrou, Director of Research Funding & External Relations at World Cancer Research Fund International, will chair a session and present the policy implications arising from the Third Expert Report on 24 May. CUP Panel Member Michael Leitzman and CUP Panel Observer Marc Gunter will present the Report's Cancer Prevention Recommendations and evidence on mechanisms, respectively.

World Cancer Research Fund International will be presenting five sessions in partnership with other organisations. Dr Kate Allen, Louise Meincke, Bryony Sinclair, Dr Rachel Thompson, one of our grant holders, Dr Isabelle Soerjomataram, and one of our Academy Fellows, Dr Francis Zotor, will have speaking slots covering the main findings of the Third Expert Report, the policy implications, the capacity building on the area of nutrition and cancer, as well as the need to work collaboratively with other cancer societies. At the National Cancer Research Institute annual conference in Liverpool, UK, on 5–8 November, Prof Martin Wiseman, Prof Paul Aveyard, Dr Marc Gunter and Dr Jyotsna Vohra hosted a joint session with Cancer Research UK on the primary prevention of cancer: the role of diet, nutrition and physical activity.
Prof Martin Wiseman, Prof Alan Jackson and Prof Juan Rivera held a symposium at the International Congress of Nutrition in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 15–20 October. The symposium discussed diet, nutrition, physical activity and cancer, and the upcoming update to World Cancer Research Fund International's Continuous Update Project.
