World Cancer Congress 2016

In early November we attended the World Cancer Congress in Paris - the world’s leading international cancer conference

We played a vital role in making cancer prevention and survival in the area of diet, nutrition and physical activity a big focus of the event by leading sessions on our research and policy work.

The first session we led was delivered in partnership with the Scottish Cancer Prevention Network. We discussed obesity prevention and control and what we could learn from campaigns, interventions and advocacy from around the world:

Our next session was led jointly with IARC, on cancer outcomes associated with food, food contaminants and dietary patterns taking into account the scientific and policy angle:

We also led a session where we brought together 12 other cancer societies to discuss the current priorities and actions that need to be taken in the areas of nutrition, diet, weight, physical activity and alcohol:

The World Cancer Congress had several informal discussion sessions. We led one of these in partnership with Breast Cancer Now about the risk factors for breast cancer. We also presented our NOURISHING policy framework in another informal session on tackling cancer and NCD comorbidities.
